Game Night on Tour!

Some of you were asking about it at last week's Game Night... *cough*SETH*cough* So let me explain what the "Game Night on Tour" is. Everyone knows about Game Night now, but why should the main branch of the library in Court House have all the fun? Well, to spread our word to the masses, we're proud to present...

We're going to bring along some TVs and consoles to the other branches to let everyone else give these games a try. Everyone that usually comes to our Game Nights at the main branch is welcome to attend, too, so here's the schedule!

Monday August 25 @ Cape May Branch
Tuesday August 26 @ Lower Twp. Branch
Wednesday August 27 @ Wildwood Crest
Thursday August 28 @ Sea Isle City Branch
Friday August 29 @ Upper Twp. Branch

If you need directions to any of these branches, click here.

Remember, though. On that week, we won't be having a Monday Game Night at the main branch! We hope to see you there, and check back soon for more announcements. Trust me, we've got plenty more up our sleeves...

The Votes are In!

Well, the masses have spoken, and the game that'll be played at our August 2nd tournament is...

So, come August 2nd, we'll be hosting yet another Super Smash Bros. Brawl tournament! However...we've got a special surprise in store for you. Due to popular demand, we're also going to be holding ANOTHER tournament on the same day! That's right, we'll also be hosting our first tournament for...

A Super Smash and Halo 3 tournament in a single day? Only at the Cape May County Library!

The tournaments start at 12:00 PM on August 2nd, and will run until 4:00 P.M. If you want to compete, make sure to sign up at the main branch of the library either in person, or by calling 463-6350.

New Tournament Date: August 2nd, 2008!

That's right, we've already got a new tournament planned for next month! But here's the thing...we don't know which game we should play yet. So we're letting you decide.

See that poll on the right? We'll keep it up for a while, but you've got to vote on which game you want to see at our August 2nd tournament. Whichever game gets the most votes is what we'll play, so don't hesitate! Cast your vote for the title you want to see, and we'll set it up and have sign-ups ready at the front desk, like usual.

Here are your choices:

Also, if you want to see team tournaments or more one-on-one, just post a comment. We want to hear what you want to see at our Game Nights, so let us know! This is your program, too, y'know.

Leaderboards.

Well, we've had two tournaments, but doesn't it leave you with kind of an empty feeling that soon your screen name will fade into obscurity, never to be seen again unless you search through the archives? Well, that's a fear you can put to rest, because we're going to award points to everyone who competed, based on how far they got and how well they did!

Here's how the scoring works for Super Smash Bros. Brawl tournaments:

- If it's a one-on-one or team battle, you earn 100 points for winning each round and 60 points for losing a round.
- If it's a four-player free-for-all, the winner gets 100 points. Second place gets 60 points. Third place gets 30 points. And last place gets 10 points.
- The grand prize winner of each tournament will receive a large amount of points, to be determined based on the number of participants.

The Leaderboard will be archived and cleared every year, to give everyone a fair chance to get to the top of it. It can be found right here on Game Night Central, in the lower-right corner of the page. If you want to make it to the Top 10, you've got to keep competing, so keep an eye out for new tournament listings in the near future!

We Interrupt This Program...

Most of you already heard the announcement, but due to the Scholastic Book Fair, our precious gaming room can't be used next week! That means no Game Night on Monday, July 14th. In addition to that, though, Dinoman's going to be doing a program on Monday, July 21st. But don't worry... We're not going to deprive you of Super Smash and Rock Band for two straight weeks.

Instead, our next Game Night will be on Wednesday, July 23rd from 4:30 - 6:30 P.M., like always. We're sorry for the inconvenience, but sometimes people beat us to the punch. After that, we'll be holding our regular Game Nights again every Monday, so hang tough until then.

The next tournament, since so many of you asked, is still being planned. Thanks go out to everyone who offered their suggestions about it, too!

Tourney Results!

This Saturday, 7 teams competed in a surprise 2-man team Brawl Tournament. Even with the last-minute twist, everyone quickly paired up with their teammate of choice and got their matches underway. The battles were epic, and the outcome conclusive!

First place: SETH and MFFNS
Second place: JET and STORM
Third place: FUDI and LUCH

The top three winners of Saturday's tournament received GameStop gift cards, and the next tournament's being planned out at this very moment. Keep an eye on Game Night Central for more information, and thanks to everyone who competed!

Oh, and feel free to post your comments on anything here. Mike, Jesse, and I would love to know what you think, and what you'd like to see in the future. If you've got tournament suggestions, game ideas, or just want to say something, just leave a comment. We're always listening!

Super Smash Bros. Brawl Tournament this Saturday!

Our first tournament was a big hit, and the Mario Kart Wii one didn't have enough participants. So due to popular demand, there's another Brawl tournament this Saturday, June 5th, starting at noon! We've got a limit of 32 people, so make sure you sign up soon.

It'll be a 3-stock tournament, all items on, all stages on, and all characters available. No time limit, of course, so no one can get a cheap kill then keep running away.

Call 463-6350 to sign up in advance, or sign up at the door. Remember, 32's the most we can handle, so don't just wait until the last minute.

Pretty soon, I'll put up some rankings here on the blog, so you can track how you stand up to our top competitors. Expect to see the results of last month's tournament soon.

Game Night Central's Creation.

Well, here we are. Game Nights have been going on for a few months now, and the response has been so huge that we've started a blog just to keep track of what's going on!

As most of you already know, we're holding Game Nights for everyone between the ages of 13-25 every Monday night that we can, plus we're holding tournaments every so often. I know I said we'd do it every month, but it's digging a huge hole in our pockets. Besides, doing that lessens the excitement and makes it difficult to cherish them.

This is the place to turn to for up-to-date Game Night information, including any closings, new additions, tournament postings, and just about everything you could ask about the program. Mike, Jesse, and I will keep it updated as soon as we find anything out, so stop back soon to see what's new.
